Arriving Shanghai

I remember reading somewhere.. years ago.. there are three major companies who design all the large airportsaround the world.. . one does food services etc…which explains why they all look more or less the same.. 

The place is absolutely huge.. goes and goes and goes
Take the Number 10 subway.. about 45 minutes into center of town
get out at Xintiandi…    say: shin de andy
first modern mall in Shanghai… I was here about 12 years ago when it was new..  was amazing then.. today shopping centers all over China look as modern.. even if the outside buildings look ‘old’… inside amazes usually..
for.. 5 to 8 years or so there was a Saturday Coffee Group that would meet down there.. locals and foreigners.. I was a regular between trips to Laos, Dunhuang, Wuhan and Egypt good people.. good memories..
Endless places to leave your money…
stepping outside…
A world class city… 
There is the Hop On Hop Off tour buss going by..
A short taxi ride to my favorite little hotel since about 2007..
takes under a major freeway..  clever engineers have raised all the freeways around the huge Shanghai city… above the city
so that underneath you can have shops and parks and… 
if these were on the ground like in LA… the place would be very different..
Even a major interchange is lifted up… 
back home.. my street…
staff were all happy to see me..  like family for many many years
the manager specially came to my room to welcome me back…  
nice feeling…
